More than 100 hundred million people, including at least 15 million minors, now utilize e-cigarettes, fueling a fresh wave of nicotine addiction, per recent global public health data.

The vaping numbers are an estimate since several states - 109 in all, and several in African and South-East Asia - lack data.

According to the study, as of February this period, at minimum 86 million e-cigarette individuals were adults, primarily in high-income countries.

And at minimum 15 million teenagers between the ages of 13 and 15 presently engage in vaping, based on studies from 123 states.

While many nations have tried to implement e-cigarette regulations to combat underage vaping in recent years, by the conclusion of 2024, 62 countries yet had no measure in effect, and 74 nations had no minimum age at which e-cigarettes can be acquired, reports the public health body.

At the same time, tobacco consumption has been decreasing - from an estimated 1.38 billion users in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.

Occurrence of tobacco usage among females dropped the largest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.

For men, the reduction was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
