Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's hardest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.

Users have commenced turning to tailored sessions set up using the Portal feature to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these missions have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the regularly refreshed daily and weekly challenges. It features four categories of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining twelve from the forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

A number of these locked weapons might eventually make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive some of these challenges are. An individual player emphasized one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to tear my hair out," is a statement that captures just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and functions solely at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you want to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Task

Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, within the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is tough enough as it is, but there's one more key thing to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, Mirak Valley, and possibly a classic map in a best-case scenario if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for grinding them out in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Upcoming Tweaks

It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the locked firearms.

For now, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these demanding battlefield assignments, anticipating a more balanced gaming experience in subsequent patches.
