Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed its support for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
